One of Largest Outdoor Free Craft Shows

Each fall on the second Saturday of October, South Elkhorn Christian Church has one of the largest outdoor free craft shows in the Lexington area. On Saturday, October 13, 2012 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., South Elkhorn Christian Church’s grounds at 4343 Harrodsburg Road will host over 150 booths presenting crafts of all kinds.  Admission and parking are both free.

Craft offerings span the alphabet from A to Z.  Objects such as alpaca items, angel bags, and aprons usually start the alphabet.  You also might find handmade brooms, candles, clay ornaments to personalize, dog clothes, beaded entertainment items, fabric grubby crafts, floral arrangements, painted gourds, hand blown glass, handbags, hot pepper jelly, holiday decorations, jewelry of all kinds, knitted items, lanyards, magnets, nativities, oil lamps, pillow dolls, quilts, rugs from recycled fabrics, sand art, soaps, stained glass, tobacco stick crafts, trees, Ukranian art, velvet hair bows, wood crafts, wine gift bags, wreaths, young ostrich eggs, zebra print purses, plus many other items.

Crafts are not the only thing for which this festival is known.  The festival has homemade bean soup and cornbread as well as more traditional festival foods such as hamburgers and hot dogs.  There are also a large variety of baked goods and candies available for purchase.

If you are a garage sale junkie, the Trash and Treasure area inside the church offers items that church members and local business have donated.  You will find household items, decorations, toys, books, art, and many other items in this area.

Local musicians perform throughout the day.
